mauser trigger for benchrest

I'm working on a new 6mm benchrest rifle based on a K98 mauser action.I'm looking for a good lightweight trigger.Any recomendations? Timney featherweight,Jard? Thanks for any input you give.

I have a 98 in a br style stock in 220 weatherby rocket and it has a double set trigger that is well under 8 oz. it is really nice but sorry I do not know the name of it. Its as nice as any of my jewells.

Installing an aftermarket trigger group w/ improved pull weight won't amount to squat with the 3/4 of a second lock time in your 98 Mauser.

Clean up the original 2 stage trigger & run it!

Don't get me wrong I would not build a bench gun on a mauser action but as I posted here before my mauser built by Harold Wolfe of Mifflinburg pa, may he rest in peace, was the first rifle that I ever shot in the .1's for 5 shots at 100 yds.. So if you got the money and want to play go for it. If want to compete and be competitive don't waste your money on the mauser.

Try the Jard, it's available in several different weights of trigger pulls. A very nice trigger. A tubb speedlock firing pin will help you out as well along with a 26# spring. Throw in a speedlock cocking piece & it isn't yurtle the turtle anymore.

Brownells stocks both the Keplinger and NECG single set triggers for the 98 Mauser, as well as the NECG double set trigger.

I have spent most of my life collecting old benchrest rifles based on the Mauser , most in 219 improved of some sort , they were great for 1950 s ( early ) shooting. That is when 1 MOA was almost unheard of in fact rifles . These rifles and ones I reproduce can , repeat CAN be made to shoot good , even great , but they are not ,repeat NOT competitive .
The NECG set trig is a copy of the canjar . Canjar set trig show up now an then ,they can be adjusted in the ounces .
