The Mauser 98 that I have is chambered in 7x57. Its been sporterized. Different stock, front and rear sights taken off. I guess I should have told the guys that replied to my earlier post (22-243????). I ordered a 5 contour, 1-9 twist, CM Shilen barrel from Brownells. Its here finally. would like to do my own chambering, threading, crowning. I have my own lathe so thats not a problem. I have cut several threads also. I also have the tools to thread the barrel properly. I just need some help with the smithing part. All suggestions appreciated....My ears are not sensitve either. Just like to do this myself for the experience and enjoyment and completing this project. I also thaught about doing some or a lot of "Practice" chambering with some bar stock. To get a feel for what I am up against...Thanks a lot...msr243ai
