Mauser M-12/just got mine!

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
In my dreams, but I must say it looks like a cross between a model 70,a mauser and a weatherby. The one thing that struck me is how rigid the reciever bridge looks. The fit and finish looks good, the 3 position hybrid safety with firing indicator is nice, but the big question is<how many thousands of dollars is it.I love the bat 3 lug bolt throw and the heavy steel triggerguard. All in all it looks like a winner and was wondering if they launched at the shot show on this piece or is it a late entry so to speak. As far as the soft touch stock, they can keep it.But the wood looks top shelf and the machine checkering looks pretty well done.I personally would like to shoot one to see if the big money gun can outshoot my remngton vs in .308 I bought for 364.00 in the 1990's.I am not knocking the mauser rifle at all but I would think it is probably a real decent shooter.God,german wormanship,it really looks as nice as a sauer rifle from the 70's with the finishing characteristics.I just wrote this for fun .Just something to talk about.

Do you think this rifle has a chance in the US without the possibility of changing the barrel (heat shrunked - not screwed) and without the possibility of after market triggers and stocks ?
What are the reasons for you to buy a Mauser M12 instead of a Winchester 70, Savage, HOWA 1500 or a Kimber 84 ?

It`s no critique - it`s very interessting for me to study the consumer behaviour and the consumers rating of a brand against the offered technique.

I went to the Tulsa Arms Show last Sunday. While I was looking I came upon an island that had some really nice rifles and shotguns. As part of the sales display, were about a dozen or so Dakota rifles. Priced from$4500 to $8500. Beautiful rust blue,,,, beautiful English Walnut stocks with inletting so close and flawless you'd swear it was done by a master stockmaker with 50 years experience. Propriety actions, not 'take-off' 700s. Brand of barrel,,, I didn't ask. I just admired the nice work, most of which was done on CNC machines, including the stock inletting and shaping (didn't ask about the 28lpi checkering) then finished by hand. Will it out shoot a factory 700?,,, it better, and probably will hands down. Prettier than any 'factory' 700,, you bet , hands down, again. There as many reasons why some buy 'high end' firearms as there are those who 'just can't see it'. Knock a guy that buys 'high end' arms, like the Dakota', or commissions a real gunsmith to build a true custom? Not me! If he can afford it, it's his $$$$$. There are still certain number who want these types of firearms and will buy/commission them when the quality of component and workmanship is there. Not everone wants "utilitarian".

I am not knocking the m12,I admire all the features in one gun. That was all.Just to start a discussion for fun.Again, didnt mean to insult anyone.
