mauser action

hey men, does anyone know where i can get info on how to blueprint a mauser action. i have a sringfield mauser type rifle chambered in 30-06 and would like to customize it.

M700, I honestly don't know. I think someone has changed the stock but I could be wrong. How could one tell? SPM

Check out Jerry Kuhnhausen's book on sporterizing mausers. It's avaiable through Brownell's Midway, and I think even Amazon. He is the only reference worth looking at for mauser alteration.

SPM; a couple of quick checks to separate a Mauser from a Springfield. The Mauser has a rectangular box on the left rear of the receiver that is the ejector and bolt stop. You spring it away from the receiver to remove the bolt. Military Mausers also have a thumb relief in the left side of the receiver to make it easier to strip ammo into the magazine well. The Springfield has a thick tab on the left rear of the receiver that rotates up and down to control magazine feed and to remove the bolt. It also has a round knob on the back of the firing pin that can be pulled for another pin strike.

This will work if there is nothing visible stamped on top of the receiver ring or on the left side of the receiver to identify the action.
