Mauser 25-06 AI

I thought this problem may arise, I have a single shot adapter in case. Is it the feed lips that need modified on the receiver or the magazine assembly it’s self?
In addition to my other post, what steps have you taken to get the extractor to ride over the rim when chambering a round. Mausers are/were designed as a controlled feed.

I haven’t done anything yet, haven’t tried to feed or even fire it. Once I get the rings adjusted and a scope installed I’ll shoot it with standard 25-06 make a dummy round with the AI shoulder and go from there.

Extractor should ride over fine as the original 7x57 and now the 25-06 share pretty much an identical rim.

The extractor on a military '98 was not designed to ride over the rim of a cartridge. It can be altered to do so, but it can be a 'touchy' alteration to make, and you risk loosing the positive extraction qualities built into the system. The '98 was designed to feed from the magazine, where the base of the cartridge slips up the bolt face with the extractor in the extraction groove in the cartridge, as the bolt is moved forward toward the chamber. "Controlled Round Feed"

Yep control feed like most Military rifles of the era, I knew the difference. :) what’s neat is my single shot adapter allows the cartridge to sit low enough to be fed properly and not risk damage to the extractor.
