It's funny because some people will drop $1200 - $2500 for a commercially produced rifle scope without blinking an eye, but if you asked them to part with $500 for a rear 'iron' sight they might act as if you were trying to rip them off.

And I can say without fear of regret that everytime I put a minute of wind on my Warner it moves that exact amount. I cannot say that about any scope I've ever owned. Sometimes I got it, sometimes I didn't. That is why I usually try to 'hold off' with a acope.

HEY FELLAS SORRY I DIDNT MEAN TO STIR UP A HORNETS NEST I WAS JUST LOOKING FOR SOME FRIENDLY ADVISE.PS I ONLY WISH I COULD AFFORD A THOUSAND DOLLAR SCOPE.MAYBE IM OVER MY HEAD {AGAIN SORRY TO CAUSE A PROBLEM.}

Realhunt,

You did nothing wrong as your question was valid and worthy of being asked and worthy of opinions from those of us that use iron sights on a regular basis.

As you can see, we are an opinionated bunch. Most of us, while being so opinionated, mean no harm, even though it might sound that way.

And, any personal type comments should just be ignored as they really dont have anything to do with the question you asked or the merits of any of the sights that have been discussed.

Simply put, all of the sights that have been mentioned surely will get the job done. Some might do it a bit better, some might not. Some might look better doing it, some might make you feel better while using them. Ultimately, the purchaser/user has to make a choice. Making an informed choice, especially when you are spending big $$, is a good idea. You came here for information to make a better choice, hopefully you got some information thats useful. Sorry about the nonuseful fluff in the thread.

Now, go buy a sight, and have fun using it!

I would like to add a 'personal experience' I had with my Warner rear sight. Last spring during a match at Ft. Benning, I finished shooting my 1st match with my palma rifle. I put my rifle in the vertical holders of my shooting stool and went to take my position as scorer sitting on my stool. I had a bungee cord around the stock to keep it from falling off the hooks. However, I got distracted and sat directly on the Warner rear site so hard that it ripped the screw out of the aluminum base on the side mount. The sight hit the ground and I almost passed out when I realized what I had done. After regaining my composure, I took the screw out of the rear sight and put it in another hole on the base. When I went to shoot the next match, I was within 1/4 min. of my zeros. The thing still works flawlessly. I am sold. I have never used any other sight so I can't make an informed opinion about any others. I can say that my money was well spent.

So, Please tell me who you can call or email to ask questions about the sight we built for you? The guy who honed the holes to + or - 50 millionths, lapped the screws to a running fit of max .0002 of the P.D.?? The same company who will not buy pins centerlesss ground over + or - 20 millionths? You think this comes cheap? Think again.

Want to know how many sets of parts the anodizers F---ed up in the past 20 years? Try about $300,000 worth of sales. Trash can items.

I learned the only rule when I was a tadpole apprentice. If it isn't right, it does not go out the door. I've never crossed that line. My work, and my customers are too valuable to risk any of it.

Ask Gary Costello. Current World F Class Champion.

The prior generation of this company made torpedos fly straight for the US naval efforts in the South Pacific in the WWII efforts. The third is fully capable of all we do now. The fourth sits in front of the CNC,at 5 years old) and asks questions. The fourth prior to me invented the cotten gin.

Who you want to call?

Alan

Mr Moderator,

You have cut a sentence in the above message.
You had your own considerations in doing this only...
The insult remain as it was published. The personal attacks on Forums seem to be customary to Mr Warner, and this one slides on my skin. But there was in what you removed a word too much, and this is not forgiveable.

Robert,

I don't understand your comment above. The objectionable language has been removed. I don't see any derogatory language in the remaining Warner text.

In any event, this thread is now locked. Normally when threads become contentious, I will delete them. However there are some meaningful comments regarding sight options here.
