Shot a match this past Sunday.
My goal was to pick a load for the nationals match next month.
This is just an FYI post to show the differences a primer may or may not make. I feel there is pretty solid proof the primer makes a difference/can tighten you group up with more consistency. Alleviate a flyer..
All the sighters and the 3, 5 shots strings were shot within a total time period of 30. min.
All 15 record shots are within @ 10" group
The 3 loads I shot were as follows
1., green circles )Lapua Brass RL 22,49.4 grs) CCI BR2 Primer
139 gr Lapua Scenar.
2.,red circles ) Identical except for I replaced the CCI BR2's for Fed 210m's
3. Identical, yellow cicles ) to the #2 load except the bullet was a 140 Berger, thick jacket )
all three of these loads are one holers at 100 yards and sub 1" at 300 yards.
I missed a subtle wind change on the first string, green ) if the far left shot was "in the group" I would have been about a 6" group.
Opinions on "if" the primer changes makes a difference? or???
