Match Grade Bullets for .223

THE 52GR BERGER HP HAS SERVE ME WELL AS WELL AS THE 53GR V-MAXS WITH SEVERAL POWDERS VARGET,IMR 8208,H-4895 AND N-135,H-335

FWIW, My 20 inch 1/10 AR15 barrel shoots 69MK's without any issues (@ sea level) but it is the heaviest (read: longest) bullet it will stabilize. Just go and try them as suggested by other posters as well.

In anticipation of learning how to reload in the near future, I've been looking at bullets for my .223. It looks like there are several choices for varmint rounds, but I am not seeing much for target shooting. The problem is that my rifle has a 1:10 twist which loves weights between 60-64gr, and I can only find weights 55gr and below or 69gr and up. So far, the only manufacturer who seems to offer any match grade bullet in the desired range is Sierra Match King 60gr. Is the twist so unpopular that no one supports it? The match kings are great bullets, but that does not mean my rifle will like them, so I was hoping for some alternatives.
not match, but Berger 60 & 64g varmint bullets have shot great in both of my Rem 5R 223's 1/9. Hard to beat a Berger. Also in a Kimber 12 twist.

Might want try some JLK 60 & 65 gr, friend swears bye them

You really are at a disadvantage with your 223, with any bullet weight. Keep it as it is, and look for a good used 308. It will get you hooked on a great sport - and shoot out to 1000 yds. Look for an 11 or 12 twist. Use Lapua or SMK bullets etc. Get a good scope - at least 30x.
Have fun

Yes! Well aware that a .223 is at a disadvantage over a .308, but I'm only planning for events out to 600 yds for now (or even shorter if they exist). I would jump at the opportunity of a factory-only event, but I haven't seen a single one scheduled in the entire pacific NW. I plan to try out F-open and bench rest too. Having never tried any of these competitions yet, I don't know which one will rise above the others as my favorite. It is by default that I happen to have an accurate rifle that qualifies for F-TR, and virtually all of my limited experience is shooting prone off a bipod. No worries about whether it will be fun or not.

.223 is a great round. They last forever it seems and no recoil, cheap to shoot. They will definitely teach you what the wind is doing. Have fun with whatever you pick and keep shooting.
