You've got a lathe - make one![]()
Yep, and not much profit compared to other parts that could be made in that time. I have one machine that could make 22 sets of the Mars per day, and then they would have to be marked and packaged. Not much left on the table after that. If I were to be asked to make a batch of them, I would want at least 700 sets, and I bet there are not 5% of that sold each year.Agreed. This is a very simple part to make if you own a lathe. Honestly, I do not believe the demand would be there to go into production on a large scale. Maybe I will be surprised! Lol.

Nat designed it and I always assumed it was he that would be applying for the patent. I’d bet neither did and use the “patent applied for” as a ruse to discourage copycats. PTG basically took it from Nat anyway. Nat has stated they made the original deal on a handshake and when things went south PTG told him to pound sand. At that point Nat improved the design slightly and went on his own.Doesn't PT&G still hold the patent? They're easy to make for personal use but I think they might frown on commercial copying.

I sort of doubt it too. I’ve been penciling out materials costs and mulling time and tooling. Certainly not a get rich propositionHonestly, I do not believe the demand would be there to go into production on a large scale.
Who stole the design from who?No he stole the design
Yes. Varying length cartridges ground on similar length reamer blanks can end up needing different length stop bodies. I’ve never used all of the bodies, mostly two of them I’d say.Are the different length sections just for different length reamers?
That's kinda what I figured. Thank you for clarifying!Yes. Varying length cartridges ground on similar length reamer blanks can end up needing different length stop bodies. I’ve never used all of the bodies, mostly two of them I’d say.
If I read the description for the new JGS stop it will have different length options as well. It seems they will do that on the front insert instead of the back. Seems a better and quicker solution but it looks to be only compatible with their floating holder.
Yes. Mine are the early version without the drain ports in the longer bodies for the flush systems. I don't think Kiff ever put them in theirs that they continue to sell but I could be wrong. So Bill,
Is this basically what you have in your package from Nat that he no longer makes?????
Looks like the same items posted by ljmontano above?????
