Bought a Marlin 1895 SBL 45-70 yesterday. Why? I wanted it. Maybe the 2nd lever rifle I have ever owned. Fit and finish are surprisingly good. Better than good actually. Get it home and find the rear 'ghost ring' has taken a real hit and 'egged' it. How I didn't spot it in the store I have no excuse. Called Marlin this AM. Explained what I needed and why....and it surely was not their fault. You can only buy the complete rear sight assembly...the actual ring is not sold separately. Bottom line they will ship the sight to me....there is no charge! The rep said (after I gave him the ser#)... "It's a 2014....I'll just send the complete rear sight assembly to you no charge". It really surprised me....I am used to the service RCBS endlessly provides however it was the last thing I was expecting. On top of that after a long initial HOLD I opted for them to call me back. Figured I would never hear from them. Total time between my call and their return was 20 minutes. The results spectacular. Just had to pass this on.

Its good to know that they have turned it around, I only hope Remington can do the same.

Marlin IS Remington.

Maybe, after all the flack they took over poor production quality after taking over Marlin, they are changing?

Capt Mal where are you living? Remington has recalled very 700 made since 2006, cause they have glue in the trigger assembly. They just introduced a new hand gun and 1 month later recalled all of them. Marlin may be Remington but their problems are going away. Hunting season is here and Remington has a lot of guns that people have paid for and cant use.
