Marlin 39A

I'm waiting to get approved on the Marlin Forum. In the meantime I thought I might ask on this forum whether anyone knows how to remove the barrel from the receiver. I have a barrel that has some rust pitting on the barrel and it would be easier to remove the receiver and use my lathe to polish the barrel. Any help would be appreciated.

Proper fitting barrel vise, ditto action wrench, and unscrew it. Right hand thread. Put a witness mark before you break it down and you can index to your mark when you re-mount it.
Not sure about Marlin 39's, but the Winchester pumps (1890, '06, etc.) unscrew better when there is a block inside the action to prevent crushing it.
