Marlin 30-30

I'm trying to remove the barrel from a Marlin/Glenfield 30A. Can anyone tell me if the barrel threads into the receiver or if it is pressed in. Thanks, Brian Brown.

Be very careful, it's easy to tweek the receiver.
Do try a hot air gun on the receiver as was suggested, not a hair dryer, but a hot air gun, harbor freight will be the cheapest place to buy one.
If it still won't budge, have a Gunsmith loosen it, it's not worth ruining the rifle and I've seen it happen more than once, the actions are prettty easy to tweek when you are trying to remove a tight barrel.

Little square threads with a standard right hand turn. I made a wrench from a woodworkers parallel clamp. Cleared out some wood and epoxy bedded it to the action so that to was in full contact in the thick area at the front of the action as well as on the flat immediately behind it. Remove the bolt and lever, but leave the trigger plate installed or you will likely crush the action. A good overnight application and soak of Kroil helps, too. Apply it from the inside of the action. The square threads and somewhat complicated barrel hood are not for the faint at heart, by the way.
