Marlin 17VS 5 Shot Group At 100yds

That is a great group for an HMR. Might want to check the lot number on that ammo & buy all you can. My experience is I can get great to poor groups from lot to lot.

That's an awesome looking stock. Looks like French walnut and not a factory offering. I own a 917 Marlin but laminated stainless fluted. It too shoots dime size 100 yard groups on a calm day. It does like one brand better than others as well to get that group. Heard some say the savage is accurate but I've yet to see one this accurate. Nothing over 3/4" groups and one around 1/2". Out to 300 it's real good without wind.

I bought a 17V in 2004.
They are capable of groups, but the wind and trigger make it hard.

For the most part, my 17hmr (savage 93) will shoot inside a nickle at 100 yards....and 'sometimes' inside a dime...but sometimes inside a quarter. That is...if there's no wind. I'm shocked at it's accuracy.

Mine as well. It's a plain Jane model 93GV in .17 HMR but it is insanely accurate. Trigger is awful but it still shoots extremely well.
