Marking Cases for Sorting Purposes

Ok,another trivial question. How do you guys mark your cases when you have sorted them by weight? Let's say you have 60 cases, sorted into lightest, average-weight, heaviest, 20 in each group. After firing, you want to put all them into a tumbler to clean them, but want to be able to recover them by sorted weight afterward. How do you guys mark them to be able to permanently know which group they belong to?

I've filed a notch in their rims; 3 o'clock for light, 6 o'clock for medium, 9 for heavy and high noon for extremes at each end of their weight spectrum that are used for getting zeros. That's for two grain weight spread lots.

Did some 30 caliber magnum ones with weights ranging from 234 to 239 grains with a notch at 4 through 9 o'clock on their rims. Liked this one better as no lot of cases ever had more than 10 grain spreads of weight. After reloading them, box them in single grain ones in each box.

I use boxes with labels. I tried magic marker, engraving and fingernail polish but those markings either wear off or end up disappearing. After a cartridge has been volume checked I weigh them from time to time to see how trimming has affected them. If I need to change the volume all I have to do is place it in another box with a new label.
