March Scopes

I am desperately looking for a used 45X Leupold with dot but all I keep finding are March and Nightforce scopes instead. Now those scopes are out of my current budget of $750+/- but I have to ask myself, why am I seeing all of these Marches for sale? Are guys falling out of love with them? Are they really worth double plus the cost of a Leupold and 50% more than a Nightforce?

This is just an information gathering post, I'm not looking to buy a March (unless someone has one to fit my budget ;)) like I said, I am really looking for a 45X Leupold so any and all tips would be appreciated.

I think at 1 time their just was not many people that had them being as newer to the market as they are. Ya know some people just had to be the guinie pig right, until enough of them got out their and people saw the quality that they are and how well they would function. Alot of people are buying them so now their is more out their. Some buy to fill that void of needing ;D the newest thing out their that is getting praised and others buy and use the daylights out of them. Now i have been known to absolutely fall into both catagories. Some people upgrade and get higher powers or decide they want to try some other features and sell them, maybe their just not happy and others ( like me ) don't keep everything they buy if they are wanting to try something else out. But i think the end result is their are more people buying them so you are bound to start seeing more of them for sale.
 
I haven't really seen a lot of Marches for sale- maybe 3 or 4 in the past few months. They probably stand out a bit more given their name/reputation.

As to whether they are worth the price- that's more of a personal decision. I own two of them- and yes, IMO, they are that much better than Leupold or Nightforce, although I keep hearing that Nightforce is threatening improvements in upcoming scopes. Looking forward to seeing them when they come out. Lots of guys will look at a March and tell you that it's not worth it too. On the other hand, some of those same guys own S&B scopes or US Optics which cost the same or more so their selection criteria is clearly not the same as mine.

I think dtucker has it right- more people buying them == more coming up for sale. And just like him, I often sell stuff, even if I like it, if I get a wild bug to try something new. Not gonna see my March's up anytime soon though...

There was one that sold on ebay about 4 months ago..........

I don't know either seller, but have seen the screen names around the Forums before.
 
Why don't you buy a sightron 10-50 x60 for 910.00 as good or better than the leupold but little heaver at least it's worth a look. You see a lot of them at 1000BR. ......jim
 
I have seen some over on snipers hide for sale. The end result is is you want top shelf you will pay top price for anything in life no matter what it is. Everyone has their thoughts and opinions on what and why they like in the things they buy and that is just what it is. March has not been around long enough with an established reputation like some of your other high end scopes. When you bring something new to the table commanding big prices it better be well thought out and great quality or it will go down in flames in a hurry. I think March is every bit as good as anything out their and you have Jim backing them up which tells you something. Their is a fellow over on snipers hide who has worn the pants off all these high end scopes in some serious evaluation and gives high praise to these scopes.
 
Thanks for all the input and the PMs, it only makes sense that the longer something is out, the more there will be out there and the more used ones will be available on the market.

I did find a Leupold 45 for a good price and as long as the deal doesn't fall apart I should have it in a couple of weeks. I just miss the days when they were first out and everyone blamed them when their guns wouldn't group. You could buy one CHEAP and if there was an issue, send it to Leupold and bam, it's all good. I will save my money and try to find a March at the Super Shoot this year (or buy one from Ian) and develop my own opinion. Everyone's PMs said they were awesome.

I've heard the 10-50 Sightrons are nice too, but this gun was built with the Leupold for weight and any extra wouldn't make weight.
