March scope?

Raythemanroe

How many people have looked through Japan's March line of scopes? If so would you say there worth the money, cause if Nightforce is now Japanese why not buy a March? Cause if there worth the money then they would be clearly better then a cheaper scope.

March are great glass, so are Nightforce and Sightron, there's something for every budget!

BTW Nightforce has always been made in Japan......

Call the US distributor for March- Kelbly's- and ask them how many they have sold at @ $2000+/per scope. I believe the number they tell you will exceed several thousand. If that IS in fact the case....then any fears that it just isn't worth the money SHOULD be pretty much put to rest......unless you have an agenda against Japanese products.
BTW there is a review on March and other scopes in the archives here.

almost all good lenses are made in japan, zeiss makes their in germany and that's it...

I have 2 Nightforce scopes, It only makes me like them more knowing they are japanese not american... I have nothing against american, japanese are just more accurate and their craftmanship is surpassed by none.

i was thinking about getting a March scope, bur after looking through 8-80x I decided not to...
it's a great glass in a bright sunny weather... that's about 20 days a year here in Iceland...

when the 8-80x comes with 80mm front glass and 50mm tube I will buy it...

Sightron.....some made here, some in Japan. FWIW Sightrons were included in a review found on the homepage using the search function.

Zeiss does not make their own glass. The world renowned Zeiss and Schneider glass happens to be manufactured by the best in the business: Schott of Germany. My youngest sister has been working for them for almost 30 years. They also have a rather expensive plant in New Mexico now also.

This in not good company for a March glass quality comparison. Right?
NF glass is NOT great. It's good enough, at exactly the same quality as Leupold.

Great glass, as mentioned comes out of Germany.
Given all the marketing & hype, I would fully expect March to be comparable to german scopes. If not, and I don't know that they are, then March would be a mere joke IMO.

March's claim to fame is ability to hold POA, along with very good glass. To some competitors holding POA trumps having perfect lenses.

Sorry but NF is CLEARLY ahead of leupold. I own both and happy with both within their respective price range. IMHO leupold hi end is over priced for the quality you get. I have shot a couple of rifles that had march on them and was very impressed just can't afford them :'(.

While up at my local range last spring I got to look through a March. One of the other members had purchased a March scope.
I don't recall the model. He asked if I'd mind if he compared his new scope to my new-ish NF. We both dialed our respective scopes down to 40x and sighted in on the same target. IIRC the March had a maximum magnification of 50x.
After looking from one to another several times he commented that if the March was any better it wasn't better by an obvious degree, and certainly not worth a thousand dollars more than the NF BR.
At 40x I think they were even.

I have been hearing good things about Sightron are they pretty good? What Would they be compared to?

I had a Sightron SII Rifle Scope 6-24x 42mm on a Rem. 700 .223 varmint rifle a few years ago and it was very nice. I'm sorry now that I left it on the rifle when I sold it. I'd compare the one I had with some of my Leupolds.

I'm with Mikecr - NF are good enough...I went the NXS line not for the glass but its mechanical robustness/reputation.

IMO once you start getting into high value scopes the value is in the eye of the beholder and the use the scope is put to.

The sightron s111 line is really equal if not better than a leupold.I have a-b'ed them and the sightron is brighter and clearer.

I have both the Nightforce NXS and March Tactical. After running NF for many years, I have been using a March (10-60) for the past 15 months.

For ruggedness, the NF is it. For optical clarity, the March is the best glass I've ever used. I also like the 52mm objective of the March better than the NF's 56.

To properly evaluate one scope against another, a cursory look see is not enough. The eye piece must be adjusted for your eyes on each scope and used (that means shooting) in a variety of weather conditions.

Are March scopes worth the high cost? Yes.

During this years European F class championship at 800 yards I was clearly seeing points of impact in a white V bull using my March 8-80 at 40 power, and just recently at a club match I called two V bulls at 900 yards with the same scope. Granted the light has to be perfect to be able to do this, but my highest praise for the glass used by Deon optics is that it compares alongside S&B, and having owned both and compared them alongside one another I feel OK making that statement.

I regularly practise with a couple of friends, one has a March and a NF NXS and the other just a 12-42 NXS, this 12-42 is amazing (or his eyes are) he can normally keep up with my March at spotting impacts at 600 yards in either the black or the white, much to my annoyance! but he's the only person who has done this consistently.

If you can read the wind and have a rifle that can hold 1/2 MOA or less of vertical then any of the scopes mentioned in this thread will work, I've certainly been beaten by better shooters using less expensive scopes, but I have yet to meet anyone who has looked through my March scopes and not be honestly impressed, and quite a few have gone on to buy a March.

Scopes are made with parts from various country's reason being is for exporting reasons. Certant % must come from another country so they can export them. Part of the fair trade Act .
I shootin Florida and mirage is always a problem 12=42 NF Benchrest is a great scope Our shooting is from 475yd to1000 yd very few times all year i got to 42 power. The club never had a weight rule,2013 they are talking on 17lb so NF is not a option for lite gun. Scope power is determined by yardage where you shoot and weight. Glass is what u see with best. all eyes are different, all the scopes talked about are very good.A friend got 8-80 march big waste of money he can't shoot above 40 power.mirage is the problem. Good Shooting Larry

Been thinking about a March, But the 5 yr Warranty has me spooked VS the NF lifetime . Is March looking to change this ?

This has been hashed out many times on here.....Japanese Law governs the warranty term. It is not BS, as I checked it out and it IS fact.

There have been many fair trade acts, and free trade agreements, and none of them dictated originality of sub-components. Can you direct me to where you got this info?
