March 48x52 highmaster

For short range I went from the fixed 50 March to the March 36x55 EPZ ( Eye Piece Zoom ). It kept the weight down & gave me choices for heavy mirage with zero change in POI. March makes a HM EPZ model as well. There is a bit of a learning curve to using one........But I like it.

Regards
Rick

Thanks Rick in your post was it with zero change in POI . Like zero changes when you zoom. Q What does custom avatars mean on the gold membership

Thanks for the response. I sent 25 for the silver membership. Didn’t know what the avatars ment lol

Looked up some info on the EPZ it was old post from2009 in early phases. Sounds like it could do anything but butter your bread

narrowing it down. I gather the NF 15x55 comp is great scope little heavy. A member threw a curve and give me some good info on a 36x55EPZ that i never heard of. Trying to make a wise decsion considering the cost. Don’t want to end up with shooters remorse. So I’m going to lay it out. The good, bad , and the ugly 48March HM Or the EPZ 36x 55. Have to say the concept of the variable is inviting

Hope you get a reply on your question. I weighed my gun on a digital kitcken scale. 10.7oz. Panda action. Borden stock topped with Kelblys rings Leupold 40x comp

You want to talk about March scopes I've been dealing with March for the last 10 years. These are what I own now. One is missing. Went back to Japan for a reticle change.

Wow impressive so if you could only keep one for 100 200 BR what would Be your pick
Straight 50 with a 3/32 dot. They are a little lighter than the 48X. The glass isn't as bright as the 48. I only shoot 1, 2 & 300 yards and meters. I like an 1/8 dot at 300 more than the 3/32 but you can't have everything. My first 50 that I owned I sold it because it was way too dark. They varied in brightness in the early years but that had to do with the coating that they put on the lenses. They used 2 different ones early on and one was superior to the other one. A lot of guy's like variable scopes. While they are nice for setting flags they have more parts in them. I had a 36-55 fail me at a match that was 1250 miles from my house. While I usually shoot two different rifles in a 3 yardage match I finished 2nd at 100 meters with my older Farley Black Widow 30BR with a 48x March. When I went to shoot 200 and 300 meters I was using one of my Bat 3 lugs in 30 BRX with a 36-55 March and it failed during the 200. Instead of taking the scope off the other rifle I was so pissed off by the scope that I just shot it anyway and failed miserably. That was my own fault. I am my own worst enemy. At least when I sent it back, March didn't lie to me like Leup and NF do by telling me there was nothing wrong with it. They told me that they had to replace the eyebox because something F'ED up in there. They didn't charge me for fixing it and I wasn't even the original owner.

The 40-60 HM replaced the 36-55. Neither one has been popular in the US.
Correct. The March 36-55X52 was succeeded by the March 40-60X52 EP zoom. It is a fixed power riflescope with an eyepiece zoom, which absolutely guarantees no POA shift during zooming. It is a specialty scope and it is light at 23 ounces and change. You do have to deal with the fact the eyepiece extends a little bit when you zoom.

No the glass on a NF 15-55 is as good as it gets. Even the Super ED March glass doesn't compare to it.
I guess me and Jackie Schmidt must be both wrong. Read his post above.
Add one more. I have a Highmaster 48x, Sightron 48x ED, and a 15-55 Comp. For my eyes, the Comp is clearly the brightest, followed by the Sightron and then the Highmaster. Yep, I must really be blind, but that is what I see.

The Highmaster is brighter than the regular 52x and they are both great as far as hiking point of aim. You will not be at a disadvantage either way you go.

My rifle tips at 10.7 now with leup 40x comp. pulled the tombstone butt stock think this is a Borden stock no holes other than what held it on. I know how to add weight . Specs say leupold 21.5 oz. if the 48 HM is 24 oz don’t know any way but to turn or shorten the barrel it is a 22in my 30BRis 24 0n heavy gunmy old barrel is a 20in ppc
