Manners vs. Mcmillan stocks

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone here has experience with Manners stocks. Specifically, I am looking for a Mcmillan A3 type stock for my Rem 700 SA without the adjustable cheekpiece. Looking around the web I found Manners stocks. Manners has a T2 model which resembles the Mcmillan A3. Is the quality on par with Mcmillan? How is the fit and finish? Would you consider the T2 model a versatile stock design? I plan on using this rifle for everything from deer hunting to informal prone competition. Thanks in advance for comments.

I own both Manners and McMillan stocks. Both are good quality. Depending oon what you order - sniper fill or not on the Mcmillan - Manners weighs less. The McMillan has the color molded in and the Manners is a painted stock.

Manners was a bit less expensive, and had a significantly shorter delivery time.

Which model of Manners stock did you buy? Did you bed it yourself using the pillars included with the stock?

--McMillan has the pretty epoxy gelcoat swirls/camos. Manners' need painted,which is a service he offers thru a spectacular painter). So that alone may make some people's decision.

--For sheer stiffness and strength, Manners wins,witness the truck parked on top of the stock on his site).

--You will wait longer for a McMillan.

--McMillan has more styles to choose from, but Manners is constantly working on improving his offerings.

--Manners is a smaller company and will do more one-on-one work


I have several Mcmillans,have used the HTG/M40, A2/3/4/5) and I love them, but my next field stock will be a Manners.

You really can't go wrong with either of them.

+1 everything said by JB.

I have the MCS-T2A with the KMW Cheek Hardware,the best there is for ease of removal and replacement to the exact same spot). With the stock you do NOT need to remove or lower the cheek piece to remove the bolt - at least on the Surgeon SA.

This is a surgeon SA in .260 with Badger DBM Bottom metal running AI magazines.

Notice the little flange on the rear post. The cheek rests on that flange - which can be removed and placed on any of the available slots - and is held in place by the lower hardware in the rifle.

Notice the allen holes in the bottom of the cheek posts and teh slots going to either side of the cheek hardware; these allow the posts to be adjusted to offset the cheek piece so that the shooter is directly behind the optics. Freakin GREAT idea.

I have no idea about the bedding; my smith did the work and delivered it complete.

+1 for Manner's I have the MCS-T1 got it last summer stock is excellent Tom is very easy to deal with wait time was stated to be 6 weeks when I ordered it and 6 weeks later I had my stock
