Manners EH1 stock

Have any of you spent any time on a Manners EH1 stock? I'd like to get some impressions on one.

Matt

I am using 5 right now and 1 more, on the way. They are light, stiff and strong. Never have had a single complaint and use them on all my long range builds, excepting one McMillan.

I have one. Bought it used on here a while ago. I'm not sure if it was order with a shorter length of pull but mine is about an inch shorter than all of my other stocks. It works out for me though as it's on an ultra light coyote gun and I usually have on heavy clothes. It's a very comfortable stock even with mine being short. I would definitely consider it for my next hunting gun

I have a couple of my own and I've used several on builds for others. Everyone has the same reactions; great fit, comfortable to shoot. The only point for consideration is the vertical style grip which some cannot get accustomed to using. In this situation, Tom makes the EH-2, EH-3, EH-4 and EH-6. The grip is slightly more open and can be a tiny bit more comfortable when shooting cartridges with a little more recoil. Otherwise, the EH-1 is a terrific stock for both hunting some occasional target shooting.

Regards.

I used to use them often. Seems the trend has moved to the Game Warden and game hunter from Mcmillan with my customers. My personal favorite is the game warden or A3. From Manners my favorite is the eh-3. Love that one for the lighter barreled rifles.

What stocks have you handled? I have built on everything so I may be able to compare for you. I find the eh-1 a little thicker than the Mcmillan in the grip. That may be a pro or con. Its suited for a #5 barrel on the small side, same as a game warden or game hunter. The Game scout is nice for #5 and down.

Do you guys know if Manners makes an EH series stock to fit an FN/Win70 Action?

I have a Manners T6 mini chassis on my Mausingfield Action and have become a fan of their product

This above... not sure why Manners builds a stock with the elite fill when it's suited for such a larger barrel (unless more people are using a carbon wrap barrel than I think are). I ordered last year & recieved one this summer but ordered it in standard fill (actually saves $69 iirc also). That helps offset some of the heavier barrel weight and the gun balances much better. My thoughts anyway...

As far as the stock itself... I like it. However, my favorite (can I say hunting?) stock is the A3, so may have something to do with it. The Manners EH1 has a very similar profile & the more radius forearm may be even a little more ergonomic. I'll spend some quality time with it this fall/winter & will know more then.

As far as McMillan stocks, the Remington classic, A-3 and the HTG. Out of the three i liked the HTG the best. I've handled a few different Manners stocks before, like the T3, T1, and a thumbhole model. The game scout sounds nice, a thinner profile rather than a varmint stock would be nice. I'll never go bigger than a varmint/sendero contour.

What barrel do you plan to use? If you preferred the htg over the a3 then you should look at the eh-2 or mcmillan remington hunter, still a little thicker for larger barrels 4-5 and up to look "right". My favorite for a true hunting rifle with a #4 and down is the mcmillan hunter (not to be confused with the remington hunter). Most times a hunting rifle is shot from a bipod which makes the size of the forend irreverent.

I forgot to mention the barrel, it's a Bartlein #3. The McMillan game hunter looks nice too, i like the Monte Carlo cheek piece.

I've had a half a dozen rifles built over the past couple of years. 5 of them have either a Manners stock or a McMillian. My favorite Manners stock is a MCS-SL, it's more of classic rifle stock, for hunting I like it better than EH-1s Ive had. My favorite stock outof them all is a McMillian Hunter. It's a copy of the Sako sporter and has the best feel to it for me, with a slight palm swell, a number 4 is pushing the limits with it. I've had a couple of EH-1s, they look good (probably the reason I used them) but after using them for awhile I ended up liking the other stocks mentioned above better. The other thing about Manners is the wait time, although several people stock the EH-1, otherwise it's a 6-9 month wait depending on the demand with Manners.
