Manatee in the Winter

Larry: I am a member at Manatee and didn't know that about the voting requirements for Board of Directors elections. I don't disagree with your comments. Do you know the proper name of the corporate entity that runs the range.....it is not Manatee Gun and Archery Club because I just checked on sunbiz.org and there is no such entity incorporated in FL.

Do you have a copy of the Bylaws? If so, would you please email them to me at my office address: CDH@phkhlaw.com. I would be happy to propose an amendment to the Bylaws to allow ALL members to vote for Directors, in person or by proxy, at the annual meeting. Of course, we would need to see how the current amendment provisions, if any, of the Bylaws are structured. If none, we are out of luck because of language in Sec. 617.0206, FS, which reads in part as follows: "The power to alter, amend, or repeal the bylaws or adopt new bylaws shall be vested in the board of directors unless otherwise provided in the articles of incorporation or the bylaws." I would need to look at the Articles of Incorporation too and, if they exist, they will be too old to be online as that only goes back to 1994.

I plan to be at the range tomorrow and, if you will be there, I would like to discuss this with you.

A friend and I were there yesterday. A beautiful day! There was a nice turnout for the 600yd shoot. I'm not a member but i go there about once a month from the east coast. Seems lately there has been a concerted effort to make improvements and it shows. The staff is top shelf! E

Isn't it a privately owned club?

Not private at all, public is and always has been welcome. I've been there for several years and i like most of the changes that have occurred, the only hold back from becoming a world class range is that past management has held the kitty pot$ as if the words NOT FOR PROFIT didnt exist. Right now has less members and more $piled up while berms are coming apart or haven't been finished, sorry to get off base thank you CaptainMal,for the awsome pics you are truly one of the many i like to see there!

I realize it is publicly accessible. As I understand it, the range/club is privately owned? Or is the land owned by the County?

The gun club is member owned It is
501 C 4 The property was attained with the blessing of the country . We had a previous lease with them . From the lease being broke we received around 3/4 of a million .
Much of the land is called wet lands .
The directors don't have a clue of the problem or they don't care .
I feel we have big problems . That need addressing . Member that would like my thoughts send me your phone number .
Manatee is a great gun club . Larry
