Making weight cz 457 mtr

I want to try my hand at silhouette shooting with the cz. I see that max weight allowed is 8.5 lbs and cz alone weighs 7.5. Is there a decent 1 lb scope available, or is there a good way to reduce weight of the gun without spending a lot?

If you're talking NRA, Small bore Hunting class, yes that's 8.5lbs, but I don't believe the MTR would be in the Hunter class because it's not a "hunting" class stock and the barrel is not tapered. It will however make Standard class and the weight restrictions there is 10lb 2 oz, which can pretty much fit most all scopes you want to use.

Assuming you're talking NRA rules...

So look at the High Power rules below

I've highlighted in yellow where the MTR falls under the standard silhouette rifle and in pink where it fails under hunter (aside from making weight). You're good to use it as a standard silhouette class rifle and have 10# 2oz to work with.

Thanks for the reply. I am actually shooting small bore as it is .22rf. I was assuming hunter class which is 8 1/2 lbs, but you bring up a good point that I can shoot standard and easily make weight. That seems like the easiest solution and is how I will proceed. Thanks again

Yeah the small bore rules, follow the high power rules, except for High power is allowed 9 lbs in hunter class and 8.5lbs in smallbore. Check out the section 3.2 & 3.2.1 right above the High Power descriptions.

It just say's identical to High Power rules, which is why I posted those

only other rule you need to worry about is standard velocity ammo, not High Velocity. Most clubs will post 1100 fps or less ammo. They don't want their silhouettes dented up. Good news is that MTR likes most ammo in the 1070-1080 range typically, and most match ammo is under 1100 anyhow.
