Making The full length Sizing Die For My 338 Lapua Ackley Improved.

The thread is a 1 1/4 12 tpi.
You take the 7/8 thread adapter out of a RCBS Rockchucker, and you have the 1 1/4 12. I believe most big presses, such as the Lee 50 cal, the Lemzi, etc all have the same set up.
For a lapua and bigger boltface that’s a great way of doing it.
 
The nitride is a good way to get a hard surface without the dimensional changes you can get with typical heat treating. I look forward to hearing how it wears. WH

Will there is a minor draw back.
It cost $275 to have that die nitridec.

If you look at the procedure sheet in post #21, it depicts why. I could have had it simply hardenned, but as you said, there is always the possibility of distortion in a finished part.
 
H&M Nitride will do just about what ever you can fit in a USPS medium flat rate box for $250. I've used the H&M West facility and they did a great job for me on a couple of actions and some Newlon die blanks I reamed.
