Making purchases at midway or where ever?

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
As a new york state citizen, has anyone gotten through to midway to see if we can still buy components.

Wake up Jon, they didn't ban us buying components or ammo, only have to go through a big hoop......and it's a year out before the Ammo Background Check Law kicks in......

I understand that, however the rumors are piling up that suggest that retailers and some wholesalers have cut off sales to our state. The retailers etc are waiting for the implanmentation of our new sucky laws.

I find this almost comical. To be honest if I had a business to run and a law like this was passed making it harder for me to sell my goods to only a few states those few states would no longer have my business. I don't jump through hoops to sell, sometimes to buy but never to sell. NY wants to cut itself off from the rest of us fine just don't expect businesses to spend their money and time trying to accommodate your PITA laws. If I was still stationed at Drum I would have gone AWOL to get out of there, glad I'm out now.

Sir it is not comical to me living in this god forsaken state.I cant just leave with an ailing mother and my kids.I hate this law and am conservative.I only wish my nra would organize protests to this law.Peaceful but none the less it has to be done.I would hope we new yorkers would have your support rather than writing us the citizens off and laughing about it.You may have to face this if the presidents executive orders he published were to take effect.

I fully understand your situation. We had law to register ammo and componets a few years ago. A law suit by a business killed it.

As I understand it, it did cut off primers, powder, and bullets---but not brass. A member on another forum posted that he got an e-mail from Midway cancelling his back-ordered components because of the law change.

Any idea how/who is supposed to do those checks yet? I cant see the BATF doing that.
I can see it now. I want 50 rounds of .22lr, but I have tpo pay $10 for a background check...no thanks.

Hey, jonbearman, ain't nobody laughing about what's happening in New York. It is, however, what most of us expected. We're in your corner and, quite frankly, are frustrated that we can't do something to override the asinine legislature that you're stuck with.
I hope everyone who is a strong supporter of second amendment rights and a pro-gun advocate who voted for these anti-gun politicians, whether it's in NY or somewhere else, understand that they're getting what they voted for.
Best of luck with your fight in your neck of the woods.

There is plenty you can do. The key word is DO. Remember what happened in Wisconsin after the State Legislature enacted their anti-union laws? What prompted the Federal Judge to dismiss most of it was the tenacity and showing of union members from not only Wisconsin, but from union members from all over the country who gathered with them. How about the rather well known gentleman, who with hundreds of thousands standing shoulder to shoulder that marched on DC? Not only was he successful, but we now have a national holiday recognizing him. Force YOUR NRA into a showing in NYS and DC. Make them work for the tens of millions of dollars they collect from you every year. You can sit at your keyboard and complain all day. Your politicians don't care what you have to say via email. You garner attention by show. So..... Who is going to lead the show, and how many patriots are really out there???

I wish someone would organize a protest here in oregun supporting gun rights and the slew of illegal gun laws coming our way. i am so damn angry about the assault on our freedoms and the american people." no govt healthcare" ov er 50 percent of the people said in poles. But then who did we elect for a second term? Stupid people. Obama is king and knows what is best for us. There are measures that could be taken that would reduce or eliminate mass killings like that in Conec ticut but those solutions are not being looked at by Obama or the mainmstream media because as most of us gun owners realize it is not about reducing gun crimes but reducing gun ownership and the dumbing down of america.

Jon,

Have you read our new Law, The New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act (NYSAFE),

http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S2230-2013

It covers "Sellers of Ammunition" not what ammunition is only who can sell it, buy it and the rules to do it by.

I think it's starting to get extra complicated as the website www.troopers.ny.gov pulled the list of illegal AW's.

jonbearmon, while I sympythize with your situation, I spent some time up in New England back in the 80's. There are alot of you good people that took me in as a southerner, and became my friends. We all knew this was going to happen one day, and I suggested that they head south for the downfall. Being from Texas, we will not give an inch, in my opinion, the feds arrangements for their agenda. We have had Laws on the books for quite awhile that the Feds will not influence their authority on our state. That being said, when you have an opportunity head south before you have to have permission to do so. We don't threat here, by any means. Just the plain truth. waynej
