Making a ring die ?

I have a lee. 45 undersized carbide sizing die and want to make a ring die for 30 06. What do I need to do to this die to make it usable? And can the web of the case be sized using a shell holder, seems like the web would not enter the die?

You need to cut / drill / bore the die so your -06 case can pass completely through once it clears the carbide ring. Then you need to make a steel pusher that fits in a shell holder, and is just slightly smaller in diameter than the ID of the carbide ring. It needs to be just tall enough to clear the ring.
Put case on top of the pusher, and push it past the ring, then lift it out of top of the die.

Lee sells dies for sizing cast lead bullets in custom diameters and they're relatively inexpensive. They come with the pusher and a catch basin as part of the kit. I have them for a few calibers and they work well. Unfortunately, the maximum ID is smaller than a .338 LM.

I also don’t do push through.

I usually use a standard die for the cartridge , lop about 18-3/8 off the bottom (depending on needed sizing) and profile the bottom edges round and smooth and then lop off the top half of the die.

Yes Jackie sometimes when working up loads I've created some clickers and wanted to resize the web.
Here is an idea that works great that I got from Charles Huckeba .
Take a regular 6PPC small base die, chuck it up and bore the shoulder completely out. Then, with an arbor press, you can press the case all the way in flush. Reverse the die, and with a punch, push it out with the arbor press.
You then run it through your regular sizing die.
This really adds to case life, and doesn’t seem to hurt accuracy in the least.IMG_0810.jpegIMG_0811.jpegIMG_0812.jpegIMG_0813.jpeg

I like that way of doing it. My book shows ppc web is .441. Is this correct?
