Magpul VS Atlas

I have both as well. My views are exactly the same as the guy in the video when comparing the two. The Atlas CAL is more robust, wider stance, lower center of gravity, way more leg positions, finer leg adjustment, less slop and interchangeable feet.

But for the $100, I don’t think you can beat the Magpul. It’s built well for the money and nice and lightweight. Definitely like it much better than my old clunky Harris bipods. I actually took my Magpul apart and machined detent grooves so my legs also have a 45 degree position. Didn’t know you could eliminate the pan function until I watched the video so that was a good tip I picked up. Pan is a function I also do not care for and will be removing it from my magpul as well.

But money no object, the Atlas CAL is definitely the superior bipod.

Good video :)

Here’s my Magpul with all 3 leg positions after I modified it. In the last photo, you can see where I cut in an extra groove to allow for 45 deg leg position. Basically just take the legs off the bipod and cut a groove with equal width and depth directly between the two that are already there. Pretty easy.

These are some custom feet I machined for my Atlas CAL 2. They have spikes to dig down solid in the dirt, but the stepped design gives them far superior side gripping ability for uneven terrain and rocks when compared to some of the other feet you can purchase openly on the market. The steps also help with grip for loading the bipod at a 45 degree angle when you sometimes can’t always get your spikes to dig in and hold. I’ve tested it quite a bit now and the steps really do make a big difference.

Didn’t watch the video as a comparison of a $100 plastic bipod to a $2x+ Atlas didn’t seem quite appropriate. I’ve got the Magpul and I like it. Good value for what it is, and reasonably light. It isn’t a precision/target/sniper bipod. It’s a light bipod for ARs and other light rifles where a quick deploying lightweight option is nice.

Yes, I've already compared the Magpul to the Harris, which is priced similarly, however, I thought many might want to see the differences between these two also.
Seems like they do?...
Yet, both are good bipods, and I actually believe the polymer is a pro not a con as stated in the video.
Thanks for your input though.
