Magnum Research 22mag, decent guns?

The local gunstore has a magnum research rifle in 22 mag out for sale. I’ve looked at them in the past and always kinda of steered away from them for fear of a jam-o-matic kind of rifle. Have you ever owned or shot one? Did it function and how was the accuracy. The shop owner says he has the twin to that rifle and it shoots good and has never jammed, just looking for opinions, I may try it.

I bought one a few years ago. It did not jam but I could not get it to shoot better then 3" or so with several types of ammo. This one had a SS bull barrel

Impatience has always been my downfall.
Mine too.

thats not good!
I've always wanted one, but haven't yet. Did you search for reviews at rimfire central?
I did not, just bought it and brought it home.

So I did buy it, I brought it home and loaded some CCI 22 mag ammo in it, 30 grain. Emptied both mags and had zero issues. Then I slapped an old gloss Leupold 3-9x with some old purple patina on it. I shoot it off the porch leaning against a post and at 40 yards all 10 shots went into a hole you can cover with a quarter. It definitely has some potential. I’d be happy with .5 Moa at 50, I’ve never found the 22 mag to be a cartridge that stacks them but this rifle really has potential. I’ll try some different ammo and get on the bench and see if it can keep a full mag under .5 consistently. I’ll report what happens.

I highly recommend replacing the trigger - money well spent. Also do keep in mind that the warranty is voided if MR catches wind of any ammo less than 40 grains being used.

Well I might have already bent that rule a bit, lol. The trigger is mediocre at best, that makes sense. All of my 10/22 type rifles are built with Kidd parts including the triggers, spoils a guy.

Put a Kidd on my MR prior to even shooting the gun. Already experienced those crappy Ruger 10/22 plastic triggers. I think the barrels are kinda hit or miss. Mine’s pretty good but it’s a luck of the draw thing. I will say the gun has functioned perfectly.

Mine shoots great. Came with a carbon fiber barrel.
I put a Kidd kit trigger in it. So fun to shoot.

Mine has always shot well. Hornady varmint has always been best in my magnums.
3 different rifles all right at an inch or a little better. CZ 455 consistent at 3/4” with the Hornady varmint.

I have one it shoots cci 40 gr really well. It kills PD out pass 200 yards for me. I do have to keep it well oiled.
