Magnetospeed sporter wiring

Hi

Hoping there is someone on these forums who may know what the wiring is for the Mic connector on the Magnetospeed sporter.

Trying to help someone who had a broken cable by extending the cable and putting a new jack on the end - don't have the old jack to see which wire goes where.

Why not contact the company and get new connector and even ask if they would make you a new and long connector ?

I've tried that - they are not willing to help - just told me I could buy the bayonet separately from local distributors

Sorry to hear that.. Not very good customer service. I would then check with a local electronic store or repair and see what they can do to help.

Not very good customer service.
my mileage varied. i had an intermittent bayo connection last year and when i told them i felt their packaging (plastic welding rod tube) was causing the cable to exceed the bend radius at the grommet, and fatiguing the wires, they bent over backwards to send me a new bayo, and rma so they could analyze my faulty unit. they also sent me a new soft case.

i think once i used the engineering term (birdcaging) they perked up. believe me, as a chevy truck owner i know all about birdcaging... not that 40 years in defense electrical engineering didn't educate me.

It may not matter which wire goes where likely just operating as an on/off switch. You have a 50% chance of being right, wire it and try it if it doesn't work it is unlikely to hurt anything it just won't give you a reading so then you can swap the wires.

I have had nothing but very good experiences with Magnetospeed factory service. Twice returned my sporter for repairs, and both times No Charge and two day turnaround. Couldn't say enough good things about them.

One suggestion I'd like to make when making the repair is to use waterproof shrink tubing. It has glue inside the tubing and when heated it glues itself to the cable, really improving the strain relief characteristics, and of course, makes it weather proof.

I was one of the early adopters with the MagnetoSpeed.
Sure enough, I started having problems with intermittent operation. contacted MagnetoSpeed and they sent me a new cable (which, by the way, is a simple stereo head set maie to male cable. But, It had better be a high quality one as I think the fault with the original was corrosion.
I believe the circuit in the bayo is simply two coils around very powerful magnets as cores. When the bullet pierces the field of each magnet, a small signal goes to the control box and does its timing and calculating.
Typically, when in-expensive stereo cables, or any cable with switches, have a hard time maintaining connectivity when very low currents are passed. They use the Bayo coils to also supply current to the control circuitry so it acts as a power switch as well as using the supply current to try to keep the contacts clean.
I did have some problems with the new cable but now I also carry a can of contact cleaner and spray
both connectors and both sockets. Haven't had a problem since.
