Thank You, Adam!

I had everything setup and ready to start loading, but instead of the AutoTrickler start rotating the dispensing tube as it has for the past two plus years, it just vibrated.

I emailed Adam and asked for his help. This was close to 8 pm. A few minutes later, I had a reply from Adam letting me know what could be the problem: a loose connector or a broken wire. Sure enough, I found a broken wire on the connector that plugs into the Trickler itself. I emailed Adam with my plan to repair this, even if temporary; he and I emailed back and forth a couple more times, and although not an easy fix, I was able to repair it and started reloading.

Isn’t it rather unusual to have technical support like this late in the evening?

THANK YOU, ADAM!

Alex

BTW, I suspect that the reason the connection broke was the twisting motion to which I have subjected the cable (from the FX-120i to the Trickler) every time I turn over the Trickler to empty it.

Which Auto Trickler was this?

I have the same practice with mine, but early on worried about that very same possibility. Instead I unplug that cable first before inverting trickler.

Were the cable another 12” in length I think it’d help quite a bit. No discounting Adam’s engineering though, or customer service! Both are commendable!

I did the same thing Alex. After a e-mail to Adam, he got me going again in no time. I think mine was more of a lose connector problem than a broken wire. I do have a new wire thumbtacked to the wall above my loading bench just in case. Another foot of wire would make life easier.

I too will be getting a new wire from Adam, hopefully very soon.

That is exactly what I will be doing from now on. I hope my fix lasts until I receive the new wire.

Even unplugging the connector before emptying the hopper will cause somewhat of a strain, bend, twist on the wires at the connector. I have to wonder about applying a thick coat of RTV silicone over the location where the wires enter the back of the connector. Doing so would incapacitate the wires. Question is, will the RTV silicone be electrically conductive. If so, it is to be avoided for this possible fix.
I sent a query to Adam a few minutes ago and will post his reply.

As usual, took Adam about 10 minutes to reply.

Hi Pat,

No problem with silicone, sounds like a good solution. We have been adding heatshrink here as strain relief for probably about a year now, covering the wires and grabbing onto the white connector, and I think it's only the older ones that are breaking.

Great post. I had a problem with my unit not seeing the trickler. He walked me through it. Great customer service.

Adam’s own creation, an inspiration:

Thanks. I was not sure if the people at Dandy Products were being referred to. I got the same service from them. The Two Box Chrono on the site looks interesting. I have a Chrony and don't use it a lot, partially because I don't need to very often, but mostly because I find operation of and the user interface of the Chrony to be awkward and not really intuitive.
