MagnetoSpeed Sporter on an 28mm(1.10") diameter barrel.

There are several adjustments you will need to make for correct readings.

Assure the bayonet is parallel to bullet track.

Get the correct distance from the centerline of the bore to the top of the bayonet.

Adjust the sensitivity.

Get the correct position of the bayonet from the muzzle (fore and aft)

Size of bullet (bullet mass) may change the positions and settings between different calibers. On my 5.56mm it is more sensitive to getting everything correct than it is with my 6.5mm. Once you have the setup working on a particular rifle what bullet you use will make little difference if any.

This has been my experience with the sporter. I'm making it seems more complex than it really is. I'm sure it will work for you with a little tinkering.
Hello,
I hope that I am able to set the Sporter to my rifle, but I've good impression reding your comments and suggestions.

I'm waithing for one second hand sporter but if this not enter on my shack I buy one new soon as possible.

Thanks

I use my sporter with one of my rifles that has a sport barrel and muzzle break that measures 1.10” I had to cut a spacer in half the front part sits on the hard plastic. It works good I had a thin layer of silicone to absorb vibration and give it some traction. That fell off after awhile and now I just use it against the plastic. I would strongly advise buying a Labrador I see lots of people dumping them used at near the same price. It’s very frustrating having poi shifts when doing load development it makes it almost useless except to verify your velocities.

Hello,
in my country only a few people use the Labradar, and if you find it used like a new Magnetospeed V3...

I don't have enough budget to buy a Labradar...

Oh I see then I think you could make it work just make sure you get a reliable way of verifying your bore is at recommended hight and level. Thin carbon arrow shaft or something of that nature.

While we are on the subject of using the sporter I offer a word of caution. We don't need this word, because it is common sense. Here is the story. Very experienced shooter sets up on a bench two lanes to my right. Great guy, meticulous handloader with excellent record keeping. Expensive custom guns and quality gear. He has a V3, bluetooth to his iphone. He is using a short aluminum rod (I am told this comes with the V3) which is inserted in the barrel from the muzzle and sticks out to the end of the bayonet. It is used to check the bayonet alignment which is recommended. Time goes on as he adjust bags and his bench. I glance over to see him insert a loaded magazine. Then he is behind the gun and closing the bolt. You now know what happens next. I bolt from my bench and sound off the magic words three time, cease fire. He was embarrassed, he made the appropriate correction removing the rod and all was good in shooting land.

I use a rod with a with a circular black plastic piece on the end. When behind the gun looking thru the scope all I can see is black, which is a safety reminder for me to remove the rod. I've gotten to know this shooter pretty well since and if it can happen to him it could happen to me, so that is why I made up my goofy looking rod gizmo. Maybe I should paint it yellow or red maybe.

Actually, that "short aluminum rod" that comes with the v3 is NOT supposed to be inserted into the barrel. It's a square rod that is to be laid on top of the bayonet where its upper surface is to be aligned to the bottom edge of the bore. If that's the rod he was using, he was using it incorrectly.

It was a square rod rather round and I was told that it came with the V3 from another shooter, so between me or the other shooter the square and round could have been mistaken. Thank You for the clarification on the V3.
