magazines for T2K

Howdy, anybody know if any other magazines besides the version sold by Superior Shooting Systems will fit the T2K,i.e. Tubb 2000)?

At $50 each, I'm just looking for alternatives. :)

Cheers from the left coast.

You found T2k mags for $50? Really?! I need to go check SSS's site! At Creedmoor Sports, I believe they are now over $100 each.

Hmm, maybe their website info is out of date? Guess I didn't know a good deal when I saw it!! :-p

Regardless, does anybody know of other magazines that fit the T2K, presuming the T2K magazine isn't proprietary?

I believe they are SR25 mags as made by Knight's Armament Co. But they are not any cheaper.

We havent found one that works yet, other than the T2k mag...and we have tried the SR25, waffle or otherwise, DPMS, etc. Some will fit, some dont, but none work reliably. Shoot, for that matter, some of the T2k mags dont work reliably because the receivers are "built" around the set of mags. Go figure.

Mudcat...how many mags are needed? I understand the desire for several but I am curious how many are needed? I have a T2K on order and have been putting kit together. I hadn't considered needing more mags.

Depends on how many rifles you have and how you compete. I want at least 4 that work flawlessly for each rifle I have. That way, I have 4 for 2 strings of rapid fire. But, of course, having spares is a good idea.

the mags ARE the weakpoint and, as far as I am concerned, the only design flaw of the T2k.

Usually, yes. The usual issue with mags is that the catch slot will be off a bit on different mags and the T2k isnt that forgiving of such tolerance issues and you will get either a sticky bolt catching the mag lips, or you will get a failure to feed. I know this all too well, as it has cost me a few regionals and state championships before I figured it out. :o

I picked up a couple SR25s from Knights. Guess I'm lucky cuz they worked fine.

But normally I shoot with a BobSled single shot deal. Only bought the magazines for added value down the road. It's also good to get the action wrench and bolt disassembly tool.

FYI, these are DPMS 10 rounders that supposedly work. These are NOT Knight mags.

They don't. At least not the examples I've seen. The top front of the magazine is too high, and causes failures to feed.

I suspect you are correct. The 20 rders that I have tried wont go in the magwell. I plan to get one of the 10 rders to test, but not at $50!

UPDATE - these mags do NOT work, they will not even go into the magwell of a T2k. Dont waste your time or money as I just tested one. Oh well, hope he updates his website cause he is going to have some ticked off folks who buy these thinking they are T2k mags...which they aint. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
