Mag Lip Adjustment Tool

It seems I'm noticing a small feeding issue here and there with my Savage 12 in the MDT XRS chassis, running MDT mags. What adjustment tool are you guys using to tweak the lips in/out?

I have tweaked quite a few mags for surplus pistols and rifles for which replacement mags are unobtainium.
Any small tool that has a groove of the appropriate width to solidly grab the lip and not leave a mark can be used with good results. Some spark plug adjustment tools do the job well. A good set of calipers can be valuable in comparing good mags with bad to determine what needs to be changed on a bad mag.
I have also used punches and a small hammer to reshape severely damaged feed lips. The punches basically serve as a guide to achieve the correct radius and can be tricky to line up and keep supported while hammering.
There are specialty tools available if you have a bunch to do.
Using the wrong tool can cause damage, so extreme care is needed when making due with what you have on hand.
Having a working magazine to use as a guide, makes this much easier.
Before doing any of the above, check the feed lips for any rough edges or burrs that may have developed. Any imperfections should be removed by use of a fine file, sanding, or stoning. Please, do not grab the Dremel.
Good luck, sir. Hope you get it sorted out.

I use needle nose pliers and old gift cards.
i want to cover the cross hatched teeth of the pliers. electrical tape is too thin same with duck tape. Gift cards (cut to size) are pliable and thick enough i can fold it over the lip of the magazine and not leave a mark.

Cheers
Trevor

Small pair of pliers work fine, just take your time. If you think you must, break off a few pieces of popsicle stick to size and put them against the mag then the pliers.

Buy a set of duckbill visegrips, plus you can use them for many other things.
