Machining a Deep-Recess Crown

Is there any difficulty in machining a deep recess crown? Say 3/4" to 1" deep; 0.75" muzzle. Is a special reamer needed to put the final touch on the crown? Are there better ways, or worse ways to machine something like this? Does the caliber of the bore (6mm, 7mm, 7.62mm) make any difference?

No problem doing that, it will quite it down some too...
All you need is the correct boring bar to do it...
Do not do it with a drill...
Caliber will not make a difference...

From what I have witnessed when my Smiths finish-up a crown, it is not last touched by a cutting tool, but rather some type of fine abrasive paper held by hand at a specific angle, and wiping with a cotton swap until the edge no longer pulls fiber.......which with such a deep recess would be impossible.
