M.O.A. maximum

Just had my two M.O.A. Maximums upgraded with new barrels, full bull barrel for the 6.5 Grendal, heavy varmint for the 223 Remington. Both stainless, Leopould 2-8 pistol scope on the 6.5 and a Bushnell 2-6 on the 223.

Heading out to sight them in this weekend I hope, more afterward.

Anyone have the moa website exploded view? Was on the website before it closed.

anyone else using the Maximum?

Constant diameter from receiver to muzzle.
Most barrels have a countour that reduces the diameter toward the muzzle.
copied from the gunsmith that did my work
  • Full Bull target barrel – straight 1" diameter to the muzzle
  • Heavy Varmint taper – muzzle diameter of .850"
  • Medium Varmint taper – muzzle diameter of .800"
  • etc.
mine is slightly > than 1 inch

This is from the Bullberry Barrel Works Ltd site. They have been in business about 40 years.

Troy (owner) at Bullberry did the work on my MOAs - absolutely fantastic workmanship - barrel, seating, and new extractors. Will post a picture.

His site is. Bullberrylegacy.com

Bullberry did a TC Encore Pro Hunter for me several years ago.

Troy bought the business from Fred when Fred retired, and as far as folks have seen there's been no real changes. Still top notch barrels.

Did Troy make you new extractors or fit extractors you already had? I assume he drilled the holes for barrel regulation and for the spanner wrench.

Mind if I ask what he charged? I'd be interested in having some work done by him. Already have a pile of Contender and Encore barrels by Bullberry.

I have a few Maximums, and they're great shooters. One is a lightweight 250AI with a brake. Another a 6.5x47 neck turn chamber and a mid-weight barrel. The other is a 454/250/7mm-350 Rem Mag/44 in what I'd call sporter weight barrels.

The 250AI and 7mm-350 Rem Mag are probably my favorite, basically mimicking the 25 Creedmoor and the 284 Winchester.

Very strong actions. Great triggers. Comfortable grips that mimic a good single action revolver. Free floated (I think Douglas) barrels with a great free float forend system.

Troy made new extractors, existing ones were not reusable.

Best to give Troy a call about pricing, mine were the first he did and likely they could be a bit less since he now knows significantly more about the MOA. :)

Mine started life as 7mm br and 6mm br - both 10” barrels, went with the more available calibers as I don’t reload (yet)

A single shot pistol with a falling block, changeable barrels. Pretty much any caliber.
No longer being made -
In my opinion - very accurate with a great trigger. Both of mine are scoped.

The picture above is my MOA with a 16” barrel with muzzle brake in 6.5 Grendal. The barrel removal wrench is in the picture also.

This site has “long range handgun shoot” notices up to 2013 that were set up for any pistol but many used the MOA. I think 500yds and 1000yds

The MOA does not open like a Contender or Freedom Arms pistols - where the barrel and receiver separate to load/unload.

The mechanism (falling block) opens with the lever near the grip, slide in the round, close lever……
Receiver and barrel do not separate.

No. Here’s a few pictures

I haven't seen or heard about an MOA for many years. Back in the early 90s I had a neighbor who competed in metallic silhouette shooting. He had one in 7mm International (not familiar with this round). He was very competitive, based on the trophies he had. Really sweet gun. I wanted one but could not afford the $$. So, I got a couple of contenders.
