lyman bore scope!

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
Just got one today and I love it. My best friend has a hawkeye which is better at 4 times the price however this one isn't as fussy with respect to moving it up or down the bore and is clear enough to see copper and carbon. So all in all it is a nice tool at a very reasonable price. I would recommend it to anyone that cant pay for a hawkeye. When you capture and look on a computer screen it shows resolution a bit better. Unless it is my eyes but you never know, lol. Give one a try if you are on a budget.

I'm with you on this, the Lyman Bore scope is the bees knees. A real eye opening experience if you know what I mean.

I had one barrel that never did that well. A friend gave it to me and upon inspection it had a huge carbon ring so this tool is a Godsend.

Mine will be here this coming Wednesday even though I have a Hawkeye bore scope I wanted to be able to take pictures without spending $1000 for the hawkeye video unit.

Received mine last week, really like it for the price. most convenient feature is the ability to easily load and save the image for future reference regarding wear and effectiveness of the cleaning methodology.

Based on Jon's excitement, I ordered mine from Brownells today. Now i am apprehensive about what I will find in my good shooting barrels. As long as I can remember they shoot good no matter what is in there....

And I have one that stinks, so it will be interesting to see what is going on

I also have a Lyman bore scope and like it. One thing I don't understand is why one rifle barrel has black grooves. This rRifle doesn't shoot well for a varmint rifle. It has only 150 or so rounds through it and been cleaned several times.
any comments?

Do you use moly bullets , is it a coated barrel , is it blued or parkerized after rifling , what kind of rifle ?

Got mine today, this is from that 6x45 bbl I have for sale.
I do think there is a lot of light that blocks pictures just from playing around with it, BUT its nice to get inside & take pictures via looking at it w/my Hawkeye unit then forgetting what I looked at.
