Lyman 48 WJS Click Value

I like working with vintage match rifles, I am currently working with a Winchester model 70.

It has a Lyman 48WJS rear sight. Does anybody know the click value?

Somebody said the Lyman 48C on the 1903 Springfield the clicks are 1/2 MOA and that all 48 sights should be the same. Just looking to verify that.

Also, what's the best way to account for the backlash in these old sights? Is it to run past the desired point and couple clicks, and then come backwards?

True value depends on the sight radius (distance between the sights). There is a table that shows this in the older Brownells catalogs in the metallic sight section based on the affect of moving the sight a known distance vertically at different sight radius.

Its my understanding that the Lyman 48 and 57 sights were 1/4 moa with a 28" sight radius.

Checking a 1962 Shooters Bible, the 48WJS for the Mod. 70 is listed as having 1/4 min. click adjustments. GPalman's post is quite correct, as this places the sight about 28" from the front sight on a Model 70 with 24" barrel and would be quite close also on a 22" FWT barrel and a 26" varmint barrel.
