Lupua 6mm 105 g Scenar bullets

Anyone done any reloading with the Lapua 6mm 105g Scenar bullets ? If so, how do they group, how do they compare to Bergers (105).
Brownell's has a black Friday sale on then right now @ $289/1000, in stock.

The wife used the older silver box 105 Scenars in a 6BR, to good affect at ENGC a few years back. Kicked my arse.

I used to use them in my first 6mmBR>>>they are extremely accurate... A friend of mine was using the "Sliver Jacket" 105 and he stated that in his 6mmBR it was the most accurate bullet he had ever tried>>period!

Thank you all for your inputs. Ordered a box of a 1,000. Didn't get the promo code before I ordered, but at that price ($289) 100 dollars off the regular price of $389 I think I got a good deal.
BUT more than anything I'll have something to shoot. I have gotten so tired of seeing empty shelves, and "out of stock" on the internet.

Thanks again

Gina

Gina,
I tried 2000 in 2012 in my Bat Dasher. They shot ok at 1000 yards at a slightly lower node, <3000 ft./sec. At 600 they were consistently the best with many < 1" 5 shot groups. This consistency made me take them to 1000 yards. There was some signs of promise with a 7.85 twist cut barrel but a slight lack of consistency like an occasional flier that sometimes occurs from pushing a bullet too hard. At the time I had enough good custom bullets that were shooting better and faster at 1K to get me by for the season.
I cleaned up the points, I had Hoover made a custom die for them. I batched them at .01mm bearing surface, 0.01 grain and Juenke sorted them.
I still don't think I gave them a fair chance. There was obviously some powder/primer changes that were needed at 1000 yards. I also never tried them in a 5R barrel. They liked the 1/8 twist barrel also. They liked to jump 19-21 best.
I still have a batch of 400 very consistent 105 Lapua's that I saved back to eventually try on other barrels.

Just curious, if you are still shooting a 6mmBR what bullet are you using now? How about your friend is he still using the105 Scenar?

I am currently shooting the Berger 105VLD... It is doing NEARLY as well BUT not quite in the same "league" as the Scenars... I have over 1000 of the VLD's so I am using them for awhile.. My friend can't find ANY "Silver Jackets" anywhere and is wondering if they still make them..

I shoot them. They work extremely well in three different barrels: PacNor 3 groove, Brux, and Krieger. I've shot them both .012 into lands, and .025 off the lands successfully. The Lapua 105gr Scenar L (like Larry) bullets are some of the most consistent bullets (for weight and base-to-ogive length) that I have ever measured. Spectacularly consistent. In my Brux barrel these have grouped in the high 1s (for four shot groups during load testing) at 100 yards, and five shots sub-quarter MOA at 600 yards in perfect conditions.

You might try to contact Kevin Thomas of Lapua USA who also is forum member KevinThomas. He has been very helpful and can probably tell you about the "Silver Jackets".

Yes Snake, I told Vince about Kevin>>> He will get hold of him when his supply of his Berger 108's gets low.. He had to move to the 108's when the supply of Silver Jackets dried up..

I checked Brownells web site and they list two different 105gr 6mm bullets. The 6mm 105gr SC Mfr. part #4HL6045 on sale at $289.99 regularly $389.99. They also list the 6mm 105gr Scenar 105gr Mfr. part #4HL6050 at $439.99. Can someone let me know the difference or are they same bullet.

Thanks, Tim

I think the 4HL6045 is the regular 105gr Scenar bullet and the 4HL6050 is the upgraded 105gr Scenar L bullet. I think the difference is the higher tolerances used in manufacturing or sorting of the Scenar L bullets. Do a search on this forum and look for a post from forum member KevinThomas of Lapua USA who if my memory serves me correct has written a couple of posts about the difference in the two bullets.

$50.00

(Sorry, couldn't help it.)

I jumped on the Brownells/Sinclair deal myself. Last time out with these bullets (105 gr Scenar non "L" variety) shooting my Tubb 2000 6BR, 600 yards sling with a scope, I shot a 599-43X. The 9 was a wind shot dead at 9 o'clock, and the X count waned in the last 20 shots due to the heat getting to me and increasing my wobble area. I love these bullets.
