Lucas Gun Grease

I've never used grease on any firearm.
Same reason it's not used on sliding surfaces on machine tools- traps and holds everything that touches it.

Only gun I have that gets greased is my Garand. Modern guns do not require grease and as stated above grease just attracts dirt. My go to lube in semi autos is synthetic ATF diluted with mineral spirits.

I don't. LSA on bolt lugs as well. I keep a small vial (the same as the one in an M16 buttstock compartment) in my kit, and apply a small dab on each lug right before a match. I don't know what's in it, but it is like a thicker, grease-like substance suspended in a light oil. Covers all the bases. Wipes away clean.

The main disadvantage of direct impingement is that the breech of the firearm's firing mechanism becomes fouled very quickly. Greasing the bolt lugs just adds a magnet to all that fouling to build up on the lugs and potentially causing an OOB.

How does one keep from galling the lugs?
