Lube/oil dents

I tried resizing 3 243 cartridges to 22-250 but got dents at the shoulder on all cases. I even cleaned the die for the 3rd case and tried less oil. Im using normal rcbs oil and pad. Anybody have any recomendations?

I use the Rooster CFL-56 Case Re-Forming lube! It is simply the best lube that I have ever used for FL sizing, and case re-forming purposes for my wildcats. I have never had any problems with it as long as I do not put excessive amounts of lube on the cases in regard to the lube denting.

Cordially,
Bob Blaine

robbor... the answer is...
You need an RCBS form die set...,it is a 4 die set with an inside neck reamer that fits into die 3 I think) that makes 250 Savage cases from 243/308/30-06. Once you have them as 250 Savage cases, you just run that into your 22-250 die and you will have no dents.

The other choice is to shorten a 243 die so it is the same length as the 22-250 case. This is so the body is supported by the die once you start necking down and pushing the shoulder back.

The form die is the way to go! After you size 243 into 22-250, your necks will be 19-20 thou thick! By using the form die and the inside reamer, you will have approx. 13.8 thou thick necks once you are all formed into 22-250. The other issue you will find in re-forming 308 into 22-250... The 22-250 has a smaller base. .466 to .469 depending on the year/reamer and the 243/308 is .470" at the base, which means either using a small base 308 die or the form die above to size it down below .470"

I know, bin der, done da'. Made 22MR's,.300" long 22BR) and 6-250 Imp 30 degree shoulder from 308 Lapua brass as well, and I have made both of these wildcats from 22-250 cases as well.

Kieth: I don't want to hijack this thread, but I'm interested in what your experiences have been with the .300 long .22BR. I have some experience with it and have made the brass out of .243 Lapua brass. Tim
