Lube for firing pin/spring

I clean the interior of the bolt body, firing pin and spring with lighter fluid or WD-40, wipe it off and reassemble. The only place I add grease is on the threads, or lugs for those that don’t have threads.

A few years ago, Wyoming elk hunt, -23F. My buddies new Savage high country wouldn't not strike the primer(factory 300wm ammo). I asked if he had cleaned the factory grease out of and off the bolt inside and firing pin/spring. No. My hunting bolts, cleaned and sprayed with One Shot cleaner and lube. I have hunted to almost -40, still function correctly.

I use electrical version cleaning spray, it doesn't leave any deposits, been using a super thin deposit of FP10 for lots of years now, doesn't give me any issues in cold weather, give it the 'ol wax on/wax off routine. Worked well in an old Valmet shot gun that used to let me know when it was time to lube the barrel switching anvil, so, started using it in the bolt guns.

MHO…..just about every lubricant is good; for long term storage something a litte thicker.
HOWEVER!!!…remember to wipe it clean if you’re hunting this fall/winter in cold climates… oil freezes.
