Lowell Hottenstein left the range...

.

My friend, my mentor and the great bullet making Lowell Hottenstein passed away yesterday on a hospital, surounded by his family and a few good friends, after fighting a cancer.

Mostly known in the Benchrest circles by his exceptionally accurate Hottenstein 68gr. BT bullets, Lowell was also talented shooter and a big heart man, always available to newbies like me asking hundreds of questions about bullet making during the matches (yes, I know... not the best place to do it), to the point that he invited me to spend a day in his shop teaching and showing me everything about how to make such great bullets.

Even not living in the same country, and not in touch frequently, I will miss him and what he represented for the Benchrest comunity.

Rest in piece my friend.

For those who did not know Lowell well, he was first and foremost a family man. Also, he was a patriot who served this country in Viet Nam. He was a superb Benchrest shooter and bullet maker, but that is not what I remember about him. I remember his pride in son Kenny when he did well at a match. We are diminished with the passing of this fine gentleman and we pray for peace for all of his family. Rest in peace friend............. James Mock

James, very well stated! Lowell was a Master Bullet Smith, Shooter and Patriot! But most of all he was a loving father and husband. I am deeply saddened by his loss. He was a great friend to all! God bless Lowell and his family durning this difficult time.
