Tried this load with VV-N160 awhile back with 123 gr. LAPUA SCENAR BTHP. It did really well in my Rem. 700 260AI w/24" barrel 1 - 8 Tw.

WORK UP YOUR LOAD PLEASE

I had the same experience with my 284 Win Bill. A new barrel did not like H4530, 4831 sc, or RL23. So I decided to try VN-160 and BINGO! It shot under 0.2 moa much to suprise and pleasure. Different motivation but same results.

I'd be interested in seeing if your POI changes much at longer range after a 40°F temp change. Just curious. It seems I can find different VV powders easier than H4350 these days, so I've been thinking about playing around with it.

Right, well you may want to pick up a few pound of it and give it a shot. I believe the M V may be a tad lower than the H-4350 loads. However, I feel certain I could have bumped the charge somewhat without an issue. But as long as accuracy is still good you can always re-dope if need be.

Bill is this the secret North Carolina load?
Well, it seems to work well in 4 different 260AIs here. All 4 rifles were chambered by (WSMNUT) Zack Donovant with the same reamer but at different times. The chambers on all 4 as far as we can measure are dead on the money and show seating depth the same touching lands with the same bullet. I set-up both of my rifles and the other 2 that I ordered for friends as well. I'd say it's a testament to Zack and his quality work.

Youve gone and let slip the secret. When i got mt first rifle that had a little gunsmith work on it I got a 6.5-284 built on Remington 700. I tested IMR 4831 V H4831 the IMR shot better so i used it till i ran out then got into an 8lb jug of H4831. A friend helped me out with a load for a match and we tried N1665. So 20years latter I hear about the secret South Carolina load using H4831 in a Creedmoor. So i am thinking what's up been doing that for lotsa years. Now I we are into Vita-Vori powders and i just decided that this must be the secret North Carolina load. The use of N160 and N165 is a giant step forward, Clean , low flame temp and jsut a great powder. Put the name on it and become an internet hero.

Bill Norris's secret North Carolina load, you just need to say it for a Creedmoor not a 260 rem. though in my experience the 6.5s all like about the same thing.

I heard stories of some famous Camp Perry high power shooters who used win 760 in 260 Remington's. I have a AR10 in 260 that has shot some pretty small groups with win 760, even though it's a stock DPMS 260LR. I also shoot 760 in an old ruger 308 that i just can not kill, if I could eventually wear the barrel out I have a 6.5 mm barrel and it will be some sort of 6.5.
