Low budget truck guns let's see them

If you leave the gun in the cab on a hot Texas day, the heat will bake on the finish, like Ceracoat, only cheaper!

I built the gun as one to abuse some. Thus the muffler paint. It sprayed on pretty thick and it got hard just like you said. It is in salt air constantly. I also added an ugly sniper gray grip because it was on sale. It's a lot of fun, plus I can load it once a month and forget about it. It sounds great too.

perfect. The custom grip nearly takes this example into the "exotic" realm, but the muffler paint brings it back to "working man art". Love it. Imagining the sound now..."mouse fart in church". Sweet.

600 Rem action, Shilen 8 twist, 20 long with Mauser taper 1.5 to .800 barrel salvaged from long range 264 Mag, stock from hobby boards at Wal-Mart, trigger worked to center grip by Phil Quaglino. Low budget. Bonus: Dictionary has a picture under ROUGH WORK.

Yup,header paint...the kind with "ceramic" (which isn't) on the label.Baked in a hot car as above,or your attic. There's a silver grey that is a perfect match for bead blasted stainless.Works on scopes.....not that we ever would do that, just sayin.

Oh, again, bordering on exotic with the stock work done, BUT Walmart materials brings it into that "garage workshop" realm of weekend engine tuning, hobby electrician work and BBQ's made of burning barrels. LOVE IT! i AM LIKING THIS THREAD BECAUSE IT REVEALS THERE ARE MORE GUYS LIKE ME OUT THERE!

This is a true truck gun. Lives under my back seat. This one is for 2 legged varmints. Stock PSA with eotech and 12 30 round mags in that pack. Couple of hundred rounds of .45 and a bunch for my grendel back there too. Along.with a bunch of targets and.shooting accessories.

I have much prettier ones for the furry kind.

This is as close to a truck gun as I have. Only have a couple hundred bucks into it, but about the only thing left that's original is the action.

Eddystone 1917, sporterized sometime in the 60's based on some of the work. New CBI 30-06 military profile 26" barrel, Boyd's prairie hunter stock, modified voodoo tactical cheek rest, Timney trigger, cock on open kit, Bushnell elite 10x. This gun was made October 1918.

The hills and desert I run around in critters can be big or small, and shots can be long. This usually gets to ride between the seats.

223 "Handi-rifle" and I mean accurate and handy!

and a S&W 686.

A buddy had one of those handi rifles. Would not shoot till we put a full case of Varget in it and stuffed a 40 grain vmax on it. it would double group, but still in under 1/2 inch. Nice inexpensive critter gitter. Now, that 686....in case you need to sell it...keep me in mind. I sold my 4 inch first duty gun, What a dummy:oops:

As The Joker (Jack Nicholson) said to Batman, "Where does he get all those wonderful toys!?" Nice one, Gary!

that one is 6" but I do have a 4" too.

the 6" is used a lot and it shows, the 4" is as shiny as the day I got it.

and I never clean the 223 :)

Dan Wesson 6 inch 357 magnum. My grandfather left it to me when he passed away when I was 19. It was my first handgun. It has been on many adventures with me. It's earned it's place riding shotgun with me any day of the week.

AAC Handi-rifle in 300 Blk. Jury rigged to suit me. Usually rockin' a suppressor but then it ceases to be "low budget". Sorry for the crappy pic.

Pic anyway. Group shot with 90 gr XTPs, subsonic at 75 yards. Fun little gun and one of a few handi's in the rack.

What kind of powder charge and powder are you using to get the 90gr xtp's subsonic? Im looking for a good load for my savage 300 blackout.
