Looking to buy a Hawkeye

^^^^^^ If you are mainly using it to assess cleaning efficiency and throat condition I also concur that the angled eyepiece makes life much easier. With it in place I can scope without removing the stock and not have trained in the Cirque du Soleil to get a proper view in the ocular.;)

Last, I definitely would not pay extra for the "LED" super bright light setup. Maybe by now they all have this feature. When I got mine it was about a $100 option. You can get the Nite Eyes {sic??} LED conversion for the AA Maglight at Lowe's for like $15-$20...might be more now. You want the LED light, it is definitely brighter and way easier on batteries...you just don't need to pay way too much for it. If I remember right Gradient called it the "Super Nova".

Or if you want even a brighter option, go with the TerraLUX conversion. Current bulbs are 150 lumens, vs the 30 lumens for the NiteIze.

about the angled eyepiece, I have never used one but was trying to save $ so I got the hawkeye without the 90 degree eyepiece. I rest my rifle on the reloading bench, lower my chair all the way down and everything is the right height to sit and look at the chamber and bore, easy easy. ymmv. bryant

You can either change the bulb in the flashlight that comes with the Hawkeye, or switch the aluminum transition piece from their flashlight to yours.

The maglite pro has a different endpiece on it so you just screw the hawkeye onto the end ring that says maglite

I think the stock choice a big factor whether the angled eyepiece is needed. I bought mine w/o too, but when I bought my first Manners T4A, it became apparent that to see the past the chamber, the angled eyepiece was needed, unless you pull the BA from the stock.

Some of those stocks wont even let it go in period. Dont flex it to go in there if you gotta do that stick with the lyman

I just used the hawkeye since installing the niteize led. I liked it much better, whiter light and brighter. surely worth 4 dollars and longer lasting batteries too. bryant
