Very true, as I always do this too. The problem is the cardboard boxes break down pretty quick, then you have a backpack or range bag full of loose ammo getting dirty from the lint or dirt in the bottom of the bag.

I solved the beat up boxes issue by getting away from range bag and backpack carry for my ammo. I bought some different size plastic tubs/food containers at WM and carry/store my single boxes and bricks in those. Another solution that I use is a cheap toolbox from Harbor Freight.

Plastic ammo cans are great for hauling to and from the range. I have some very small ones that I can place on the bench and access my rounds as I need them too. Picked them up from Sportsman's warehouse.
