Looking for help identifying a gunsmith...maybe

Looking to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge represented here with a question on a recently acquired 40x.

Received this rifle with a distinct marking at the end of the barrel that I have never seen before. It could be a the end users request or a particular gunsmiths trademark (if it's the first I'm SOL, the second maybe I have a chance).

Anyone seen this mark before? Sorry for the blur my camera couldn't focus on it too well. It's a star...maybe a Texas star?

Can't really tell from the pic, but I don't think it would be hard to do. Polish, apply star shaped sticker and bead blast. Maybe a light lap afterward to the crown.

It's hard to tell from the pic, but is this a polished star on the end of the barrel or is the crown recessed? I looks like the barrel was polished, then they masked off the star and blasted the barrel. If the crown is recessed, then I have no idea how or why they did it.

It is a five star barrel, but I forgot who made them! Chuckle chuckle It appears to be sitting on a Shadetree Engineering rest on a Sinclair base.

I think @jwv2001 nailed the 'How' part but like the rest of you I can't figure out the 'why'. Not a biggie, just curiosity more than anything. Rifle came from up in the NW part of the US and I thought it might be a gunsmiths trademark or something....it's pretty cool, something I've never seen before.IMG_3397.jpeg
