Looking for a "quality" FL sizer for 308

Looking to find a good quality 308 full length sizing die set in stock somewhere. I have an RCBS neck die set but I need a FL sizer now. Looking for maybe a Forester set....or others if someone mentions a good quality set. I had a Lee FL die but it is now damaged(let a buddy use it :-\).

Whats out there that you guys would recommend? Will I notice adifference between the RCBS seater die I already have and something like the Forester seater?

Thanks

As to whether you would notice a difference, like many things, that depends. What rifle, what accuracy expectations, and what kind of results have you been getting to this point? How did you work up your loads?

Forster... I use there dies exclusively. I have a honed neck die to my desired neck tension in 308 for my palma rifle, forster charges $10 for a great service and I use there micrometer seater dies.

This is what I prefer also. A forster full length sizer die that's been honed to your neck diameter with the expander ball removed is my favorite setup.

Thanks fellas. I will order directly from Forester today. 2 questions:

Is it worth it to pay $35 more for the Micrometer seater over the Bench Rest set?

How do I get them to hone the neck?

Thanks

I would buy them from an outside supplier as they are a bunch cheaper that way. They protect their dealers in this way. If you are going to do a lot of loading and use different bullets I would recommend the mic seater. Send them a fired case along with the die and tell them what you want in neck I.D. There is only so much they can remove, or just give them a call and talk to a tech, they are a great bunch of folks. Lets us know how it turns out for you. Barlow

Yes... absolutely.

Buy it from them with the neck already honed. Or buy the die elsewhere and send it to them. With the current shortage of reloading stuff in dealers, I think the best bet is to buy directly and get it all done at once.

In my opinion, definitely yes. I went the cheaper setup thinking I would only be using one bullet. That was before the last election.

The Micrometer feature is very useful and makes adjustments for OAL quick and simple.

just for your information. Forster sells two different .308 die sets. One set is like the ones everybody else sells, but with the best seater made. The other is a .308 national match set. You might also consider a Lee Collet die with a Forster seater. Jury is still out with me and the collet die, but others rave about it. If your just using one or two styles of bullets, you probably don't need the micrometer head, but if your like me and swapping bullets constantly (as well as changing seating depths) then the micometer head is best. I have the micrometer heads on dies from Hornaday, Forster, and Redding. The Hornaday head is a toy. The Forster heads have less backlash than the others do, but all have some backlash built into them. The micrometer head can be bought seperately from Forster, and added later if expense is an issue.
