Looking for a low cost barrel to experiment with

I am building a rifle and am unsure if it will work as imagined. I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a barrel if I don't have to. I am looking to find a contoured blank. Green Mountain is the obvious choice, but they don't contour to the public, Midway USA has threaded and contoured Green Mountain barrels but don't have the twist I need. Is there a barrel maker out there that has affordable contoured blanks? I am looking for 30 caliber 7 or 8 twist. Thank you for looking!

You might want to check into X-Caliber and their line of barrels. Very happy with mine.

I doubt you are going to find a cheap contoured blank with a non standard twist.

Why not tell us specifically what specs that your looking for. If I were on the cheap and trying to prove something, I would look for a used custom barrel and work with it.

Ebb...I've got a couple of options for you.

First, if you want to go for a 12 twist, instead, I have a 24 1/4 inch fluted and tapered stainless WTA blank for $200.00. And, a 50% discount gift certificate for a Lilja barrel (available in 7 or 8 twist) for $120.00. Call them at (406) 826-3084 to obtain a quote for the particular blank you are interested (I believe $355.00 for SS and $335.00 for CM?).

You might want to check into X-Caliber and their line of barrels. Very happy with mine.

+1 on Xcaliber. You can have 1 chambered and contour for about the price of a blank from other barrel makers
