Looking for a good .223 load for coyotes?

I'm starting to reload, and was wondering if you guys have any honey loads for a .223 for shooting coyotes? I will shooting it out of Browning Varmint Stalker A-Bolt with a Leopold VXII 4x12x40mm AO. I'd like a load that will get out there without much pelt damage. Thanks!

Use a standard match load, 77 gr Sierra or 75 gr Hornady in front of 24 gr of Varget or 23.5 gr H-4895 and you will have a very flat shooting, accurate load.

I use 55 grain noslers, over 25.5 of reloader 15. This shoots at about 2962 fps from my rem 700. Some people want to push the little pills faster, but I prefer accuracy over velocity. Took a song dog at 430 with this combo the other day.

I've had a lot of luck with 55gr. V-Max and 26gr of h-4895 one hole and they never get up.

A-bolts are usually 1/12 or even 1/14 twist and won't stabilze a 75/77 grain bullet. My buddy tried my 69 grain match load through his and he shot a 20' keyhole group at 100 yards. Stick with bullets lighter than 60 or so grains.

If the Stalker came with a 1/9 twist it may or may not shoot 75/77 grain bullets, but will surely shoot the 68/69 weight class. These will give a little more wind bucking ability, but are pretty much gauranteed to exit with a big hole.

I'd try any of the Blitz Kings or SX series bullets. Something that will explode into little pieces on impact. They probably will not exit.

I shot a lot of coyotes with the following loads in a Rem 700 and 788 in 223's:

26.5g of Win 748 with a 55g Winchester SP, does not go throught the coyote much of the time

27.5g of Win 748 with a 50g Sierra Sp, dumps yotes way out there.
' ' 52g Sierra Match BT
' ' 53g Sierra Match flat base

Don't make the mistake of boo Hooing the 55g Winchester with this load, it is a Hammer. The 55g Win is a very soft bullet.

If you want an 'Extreme' powder, then H-322 for these bullet weights is excellent from 23.5 with the 55's, and 24.5 with the 50's...your milage may vary.
