Looking 338 JDJ Quickload guidelines.

Specially looking for a starting load and a peak velocity using Barnes 160gr ttsx and W-748 powder. Primers are Fed GM large rifle. Brass is resized 375 JDJ. What other info would you need?
Other possible powder would be Varget if there is an issue using W-748.

I've had a .338 JDJ since it's inception. JD is a good friend & got a great load sheet from him. PM me with your name & address & I'll mail it to you. I only used AA2520, but the load sheet has other powder choices. WW 748 is not listed. Lot of Varget loads.
He frowns on solid copper bullets in Contenders, but I used a few sparingly. Better results with Horn. & Nos. PTs.

Not knowing what your average measured case volume is for fired unsizsed brass or what kind of velocity your lot of that powder tends to produce, this chart might give you some ideas. Note the COAL being used. Always start low and work up with your charges with particular gun as the pressure/velocity from QuickLoad is never right on until it is tuned to your lot of powder.

Thanks guys. WV Hitman, I have multiple sources including the sheets from SSK. I only got into reloading because of this gun, so I take my time and now reload for 44 mag, 300 win mag, 308, 6mm Rem. The starting load of 42.6 gr is what I needed. I find the info a little suspect because 50gr pushes a 200gr sst 2350 per my lab radar. Will work up the first 5 lines to preasure test. Actually I have never worked up faster then 0.3 gr per step. I will likely continue that. Also starting 223 for the encore, going to be a fine spring.

I always use JD's load data in about all of my handguns. I never push to max loads. To me accuracy is more important than velocity. Being a few fps below max velocity never bothered me or the game I shoot.
Your just getting started on guns you load for. I've been handguns only on game since 1978 & reloads only for all my guns since 1970. I have a little experience doing this.
