For that money, just go to Batteries + with your defective pack and have em build a replacement with 2-3x capacity of original. That’s my plan when mine are dead and no longer warranty covered.I have a couple of the Longshots. They worked well until recently, when one battery started to die. It only holds enough charge for about 15 minutes of run time. I emailed them about a replacement but it was $100 plus shipping for them to replace a battery.
You can rig an external battery pack, thats not a problem. I have ran one off a car battery (target camera) with a $4 voltage regulator. Some want to retain it in a nice compact package without hauling any extra stuff.I've seen some use an ATV/mower battery with a homemade cord for more juice and longer run.
